Nothing says spring like verdant green accents. The trees are bursting with bright green growth and my table is reflecting that happy time.
I've combined some inexpensive green glasses from CB2 (sadly they have discontinued this color), my Tea Time trivet project and some bright green Heather Bailey napkins to bring the table alive.
When I bought my latest multi-hued hydrangea (pale green with pink splashes), a bloom broke off and my pull toward green and pink began.
The most important message of this post is this:
I set the table even though nothing is happening and no one is coming over. I like to look at beautiful linens, flowers and colors and I shouldn't have to wait for an occasion to use what I have. When I set the table, the house comes alive.
If your kitchen table is collecting bits and bobs, go clear it off and make yourself a pretty table setting.
I love House Beautiful magazine and this month they are celebrating "Living Green.
" The issue showcases the use of green paint, wallpaper and accessories for the home. On their Facebook Page, they've asked readers to post a photo showing how they have decorated with the color green.
Well, I couldn't resist showing them my dining room. I had an entirely different color scheme in mind when I flipped to this page in the wallpaper book a few years ago. I remember seeing this paper and saying, "Oh no."
Nothing about it worked with the plans or fabrics I was thinking of for the space, but I gave in to it and said, "I'm papering the dining room Wellies green." I loved it and I had never felt so sure of a decorating choice. The wallpaper is "Oriental Spring Blossoms (GG4721)" by York.
We recently covered the 8 chair pads in a Ralph Lauren plaid that I found by chance and it looks as if they were part of the same collection. Success!
I long to look outside and see shades of green. For those of us that live in a cold climate, we see an awful lot of gray. But now that the first of March is here, Mother Nature promises that the worst is over and that Spring is "the next big thing." Hallelujah!
I've been scouring the garden catalogs (Burpee, Gardener's Supply Company and White Flower Farm) to soothe my green thumb. I am making a list and at the top is some Bombast Rose Poppy seeds. Remember when I discovered this plant in England? I can only hope they will thrive in my zone. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, let's get lost in the million shades of greens in my photo above. I took this picture a few years ago on a farm and can almost picture Kermit swinging on that swing.
