Garden Transport

The next time you are at Costco, pick out an extra sturdy (and preferably cute) cardboard tray from the pile offered to customers.   It is my new solution for transporting dirty plant packages home from the garden center.

I used a large scrap of blue & white check oilcloth and stapled it into the cardboard tray, leaving a few inch edge going up the side all the way around (you could do the same with a white kitchen garbage bag).  Now I have a leak-proof way to get everything home safely.Lately I have been struggling with grocery bags, bottles and whatnot rolling around in the back of my SUV.  Once my weekend garden errands are finished, I can use this lined tray to hold grocery bags, muddy shoes or whatever needs to be "contained."
Do you need a garden transport?

Oilcloth Cases

If you had a stack of this oilcloth, you wouldn't be able to resist either! I was thinking about the Summer jaunts I have planned and a girl's gotta protect her electronics, right? I absolutely LOVE these cases that I made this week.

I had actually made a small number of felt-lined cases similar to these for a "one-hour gift show" I participated in last month and they sold out in a snap! My plan is to make more and bring them to an Artist Market where I'll be a vendor in July.

When people ask me what I'll be selling at this event (I haven't done a real show in years and I am excited to talk to my customers again!), I tell them that I'll be signing my book, Moments of Delight, and that I'll have my magazine bags (DELIGHT totes), ANA cigar box purses, tin wallets, 2-of-a-kind necklaces, paper art matchbox sets, oilcloth cases, DELIGHT jam jar vases...

My goal is to get them to say, "Ohhh...when is it?" I love what I do.

Oilcloth Knitting Case

Do we really neeed patterns?

Yes, of course, but sometimes you can come up with the neatest projects all on your own. I wanted to make my niece a Knitting Needle case with this really cute oil cloth fabric.

Let's see...it should be a trifold with velcro closure - check. It should have a slot for really long needles and a crochet hook - check. It should have a velcro tab to hang circular needles from - check. It should have a pocket for a tapestry needle and tiny scissors - check.

Oh, joy! I love this and I made the entire thing by instinct. Hmmm...I should have made 2!
