Knitting Needles

I have added a new item to my standard packing list.
  • Clothes
  • Toothbrush
  • Knitting Needles
I am serious! Every time I go somewhere, I invariably hunt out the local yarn shop. Then I fall in love with some yarn, want to knit right away and realize I'll have to buy...needles. Again.

As a result of this, I have so many sets of knitting needles
that it's silly. I give a set away whenever I teach someone, but still! So from now on I am getting smart and bringing a set of needles along. If you hear me mention a trip on Facebook, remind me, okay?

2008 Knit Events

I always think it is fun to stop by Knitting & Fiber events to see what new accessories, books or techniques are getting attention. I was at a fiber festival when I first saw glass knitting needles.

Yes, handmade clear glass knitting needles with blue lampwork swirls which I bought on the spot.

Today I attended Knit Michigan, an event that supports cancer charities in Michigan. I saw tiny sweater ornaments that looked like they had been knit on toothpicks (!) and an interesting travel guide for knitters.

Looking for fiber fun? Check out the Knitter's Review Calendar and see what's coming up in your area.

Do ewe knit?

Want to meet new people? My advice is to learn to knit.

Every time I bring knitting along to the airport, people talk to me. Some nod their approval, some stare with facination and others simply give in and ask me something.

I taught a woman to knit in a hospital waiting room...she then proceeded to call her sister in California to proclaim that she finally "got it."  And gave her a little grief by saying, "How come you couldn't teach me this!?"

If you are looking for a neat twist on knitting, check out these Denise Knitting Needles. They are interchangeable plastic needles of varying sizes that twist onto the end of different length circular cords. It has every combination of needle size/cord length you might need all in one travel-friendly set.

Ewe should check it out.
