Game On: A Vintage Game Board works as Art

Do you see the beauty too? This antique Chinese checkers board will someday hang as art in my house. I stopped into an antique shop in a strip mall and b-a-m! I saw this beautiful board. I pretended to be interested in other things, but in the end I knew that I couldn't leave without it. 

The colors were so vibrant and interesting and for some reason reminded me of a bouquet of snapdragons. My first thought was to have a piece of glass cut for it and use it as a tray on an ottoman. That option is still there, but for now I have settled on hanging it on the wall as art.

I couldn't wait to show you, so I placed it in a stand so that I could photograph my new vintage treasure from 1938. It is the perfect representation of my design mantra: I like things that are beautiful and interesting.

Shuffleboard

When I was a child, shuffleboard was my favorite Florida sport.  For a few days each year, it was my go-to activity and had a wonderful time challenging my Dad or brothers to a game. 

When I saw this empty shuffleboard court, with the "biscuits" left just so, I had a take a picture.  It was morning and I was alone on the court, or I know I could have talked someone into playing with me.

Have you lost your marbles?

I realized what it was like to find my marbles when I saw this incredible selection in a museum store. Sold by the bag (you get to choose the size & color), imagine what fun you could have with these. And I can't think of a child who wouldn't want to plunge their hands into this gorgeous bin? And believe me they did - I could hear the glass balls rolling around together from across the store.

Personally, I would like these strung together into a necklace. It would be fabulous with a red t-shirt and jean jacket, don't you think?

Game Night

Want to liven up game night? Get some really neat dice. When I was out and about today, I simply couldn't resist these beautiful "double dice." Each translucent pastel die hold another smaller die inside! The internal die rolls freely and the result is a score as if 2 were thrown. So cool. At less than a dollar a piece, they are a beautiful bargain.
