Puzzle Material

Some might say that this would make a great puzzle!  Personally, I don't think my eyes do it!  I photographed this veritable "Where's Waldo" of ornithology last month when I was in Florida.  Can you see the birds in the waves?

I didn't see any natural predators, but these birds certainly have the perfect camoflage for feeding along the coast.  Their deep pink legs disappeared into the froth every time a wave came on shore and I kept having to wait for the water to recede to know where to aim my camera. They were that hard to see!I just downloaded a free iPhone app to identify birds (iBird Lite) so I can tell you with confidence that this is a group of White Ibis

Lunch By The Pool

One thing that I like to do on vacation is head to a resort to enjoy "lunch by the pool."  If you are staying with friends or renting a place for a few weeks, it is a nice to take a break and invite your hosts to head over to a fancy resort for lunch.  Make sure to leave time to shop in the gift shop (cute bathing suit cover ups and fun travel items), wander around the pool and then sit down to enjoy a delicious lunch in a tropical setting.

This is my cajun-grilled chicken sandwich and a fresh green salad - yum.  I think everything tastes better outside, and when you add some palm trees and a giant waterfall, lunch becomes a meal to remember.

Sun Worship

So gorgeous!  You know how I love to stop everything in the Summer and watch the sun go down over Lake Michigan.  Well it has been ages since August and I have been missing this quiet time of night so much.

But this week I am lucky enough to see it rise over the ocean!  I've escaped the snow and cold of Michigan for a few days in the Sunshine State.

I love the shells (stay tuned for some wonderful jewelry!), the food and, of course, the view!  Most people come to Florida to lay in the sun, I choose an entirely different way to appreciate it.

Take a moment and gaze at what looks like my own personal "inspirational poster." *sigh*

Eating al fresco

I don't think I'm alone when I say that I love to eat outside. Give me a deck, patio, cafe or rooftop and I am "in." When I am exploring the little shops between Hobe Sound and Palm Beach Gardens (Florida), I often stop for lunch at Cafe Copenhagen. It is a quaint Scandinavian cafe with an outdoor patio. On this particular day, my mom, aunt and I shopped in the morning and then made our way here for a girls lunch. Our choice wasn't exactly Danish, but it was the perfect cold salad on a hot afternoon. There was a hibiscus plant blooming on the patio beside our table and it felt like a perfect day. Where do you like to eat al fresco?
