Dyed Rovings

I bought two big beautiful puffs of hand-dyed rovings like these...a few years ago.  And they still sit, untouched in in my studio.  I was wooed by the colors and knew a smidge about felting, but it hadn't occurred to me that the next "official" stage for this type of wool is really spinning it into yarn.

I don't spin yarn, and it seems like too big of a skill to learn in my spare time.  So...what to do; what to do.  I wonder if the local knit shops know of people who would spin it for me?  Or I suppose I could try to do a felted landscape...it would be gorgeous if I took my time and did it right.  Something with fields and streams and mountains.  Hmm...I promise to show you the result!

Anne, did you see the polar bear mural that Martha's Craft Dept. worked on for Martha's granddaughter? It is absolutely beautiful and they used a felting technique to adhere the appliques to the mural.

No, Elaine, I hadn't seen it, but I looked it up and that it just what I meant. Thanks for telling me! I'm so glad that Martha can be a grandmother.
