Aren't these vintage sewing implements charming? I love that the Richardson Silk Company is willing to boast that their blue box of thread is perfect. Shouldn't all things be described with such conviction?
I photographed this display in an "old fashioned millinery shop" at Greenfield Village, a life-size town and museum made up of actual buildings (the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop and Thomas Edison's original laboratory are both here) from the late 1800's. Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford museum are a must-see educational (and entertaining) destination in Dearborn, Michigan. Henry Ford's vision was to create an indoor/outdoor museum "to preserve historical items that illustrated the American experience and American ingenuity." Facinating.
